Thomas L. Effinger's Obituary
Thomas L. Effinger, age 71, of Lewes, DE passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford, DE. He was born Tuesday, January 1, 1946 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late John and Nora Effinger.
Mr. Effinger graduated from City High School in Baltimore, MD. He proudly served his country in the United States Army at Fort Myer, VA in the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a retired letter carrier from the United States Postal Service and he most recently worked for 15 years at Beebe Healthcare in the mailroom.
As a child, Mr. Effinger spent many a summer on Fenwick Island with his family. He enjoyed surfing, working on his yard, and spending time with his pets.He was also very involved in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Effinger is preceded in death by his son John Dulaney Effinger. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Effinger of Lewes, DE; his sisters, Sandy E. Kleppinger and her husband Bill of Whittman, MD, Peggy J. Dietsch and her husband Fritz of Chapel Hill, NC and Nora E. Drayton and her husband Jim of Oxford, MD; his nephews, Eric and Nick Dietch, Kory Kleppinger and Alex Witt; his niece; Shelby Witt; his great nephews, Talan and Kavi Dietsch; his great niece, Calise Dietsch; and his sister-in-law Karen Witt and her husband, Joe Witt of Belle Plaine, MN.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at The Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Rd, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Effinger's name to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, at the address listed above, or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
