Thomas J. Delaney's Obituary
Thomas Joseph Delaney, Jr.
July 5, 1948 – May 31, 2026
Thomas Joseph Delaney, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Lewes, Delaware, at the age of 77.
Tom lived life the way he believed it should be lived - with family, friends, a cold drink in hand, and wherever possible, somewhere near the water. He was known for his larger-than-life personality and love of a good time, whether he was captaining a boat, enjoying gatherings with friends, or telling stories that grew better with every retelling. He brought unforgettable memories to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Tom was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend. He is survived by his daughter, Cristen MacInnis and her husband, Brian; his sons, Thomas Delaney and his wife, Kate, Ryan Delaney and his wife, Cindy, Scott Delaney; and his sister, Kathy Avicolli. He also leaves behind other extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared.
Tom was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Brandon and Brady MacInnis, Benjamin and Jackson Delaney, and Kelsey and Emma Delaney, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marian Delaney, his sister Patricia, and many loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A private service will be held for family members.
In honor of Tom's memory, his family encourages everyone to gather with those they love, tell a few stories, and enjoy a day on the water.
"Fair winds and following seas, until we meet again."
