Thomas Stuart Brown's Obituary
Thomas Stuart Brown, age 80, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Weston, CT, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, June 21, 2008. He was born September 24, 1927 in Brookline, MA, son of the late Herbert John and Margaret (Stuart) Brown.
Mr. Brown was born and raised in Brookline, MA where he attended the Brookline Baptist Church. After his marriage to Barbara Ann (Burbidge) Brown in November 1958, he was active in the Park Street Church in Boston. He lived in Connecticut for 35 years where he was a greeter, usher and youth leader in the Hope Evangelical Free Church, Wilton, CT. He and his wife relocated to Lewes two and one-half years ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Brown was a daily commuter from CT to Manhattan where he worked for the Mead Corporation. Paper was his specialty, dealing primarily with book publishers and anyone else needing fine paper. Mr. Brown developed a "Paper Knowledge School" for the Mead Corporation. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing tennis.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Barbara Ann Brown; a daughter Pamela A. Hughes and her husband Johnny of Baltimore, MD; a son T. Stuart Brown of Florida; two brothers and a sister, Herbert J. Brown, Jr. of Maryland, Andrew Brown and Margaret Brown both of Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Brown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE with the Rev. Larry Wanaselja officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM. Entombment will be at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 5 Lighthouse Plaza, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
