Theresa J. Proud's Obituary
Theresa "Terri" J. Proud, age 81, of Norfolk, VA, passed away peacefully after a long journey under hospice care at Karolwood Garden Assisted Living on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Born on June 26, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Rita M. (Boyle) Prior. Terri married George D. Proud on May 1, 1970, at St. Lawrence Church in Upper Darby, PA.
Throughout her life, Terri was an active member of her community. She was involved with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Quota International, and served as a Republican Committeewoman for Haverford Township, PA. A member of the Red Hat Society, she also volunteered for many years with her husband at St. Pius X Church in Broomall, PA, before retiring to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Terri was especially devoted to praying the rosary, a practice that brought her comfort and peace throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Terri was preceded in death by her younger sister, Celine Meredith, her beloved husband, George Proud, and several dear friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Maureen Wick (Richard) and Meighan Traynor (James Hubbell); her granddaughter, Ashley Traynor; her brothers, Thomas and Edward Prior; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish her memory.
The family is deeply grateful to Wings Over Virginia Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance during Terri's final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave, Rehoboth Beach, DE, 19971.Friends and family may visit beginning at 11:00 AM. Chapel Committal service will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
Terri will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her unwavering kindness, commitment to family, and dedication to community will leave a lasting impact.
