Theresa M. Hartenstine's Obituary
Theresa Mary Hartenstine, 84, of Frankford, Delaware, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on April 10, 2026. Born on December 5, 1941, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of John and Louise Matteoli. Theresa was raised in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, and attended Upper Merion High School, later going on to complete her trade certification in cosmetology.
Theresa dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her family and friends. She was devoted to her career in cosmetology, working for over 30 years in various salons as well as independently. Theresa was known for her empathetic nature, big heart, and her ability to provide comfort and peace to all who knew her.
Beyond her family and professional life, Theresa found joy in gardening. She always had a number of houseplants which she loved caring for. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and friends, her joyful laugh, her love of sweets—especially donuts and pastries—and her overwhelming generosity and kindness to all.
Theresa is lovingly survived by her son, Kenneth James Hartenstine Jr.; her daughter, Alisha Ann Hartenstine; her grandson, Blaze Bentley Spencer-Hartenstine; and her brother, Joseph Matteoli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth James Hartenstine Sr.; and her brother, John Matteoli Jr.
A viewing will be held on April 24, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, Delaware. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, Delaware.
