Theresa Maria Falzone's Obituary
Theresa Maria Falzone, age 103, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Brandywine Senior Living in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was born on June 16, 1912 in Throop, PA a small mining town near Scranton. She was the oldest of four children and daughter of the late Salvatore and Cologera (Andelore) Urso.
Mrs. Falzone lived in various locations in New York, New Jersey and nine years ago, she relocated to Sussex County, Delaware to be closer to her family. Although her generations of family was scattered through the Mid-Atlantic, some of them made a special trip to celebrate her 103th birthday. She lived through two World Wars, the Great Depression and every movement ever since. She was a woman who enjoyed living life, being active and always having a positive attitude.
Mrs. Falzone kept herself occupied by attending exercising classes at various fitness locations, participating in country line dancing and traveling with her family. She loved knitting and crocheting, playing cards and Bingo with her friends, singing and listening to music which was a very important factor in maintaining her quality of life. She loved spending time with her family and attending family events with her children, grandchildren and close family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Falzone was preceded in death by her three siblings, Louise, Salvatrice "Tillie" and Louis. She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Portland and her husband Louis; a grandson, Scott Portland and his wife Kelli; a granddaughter, Carol Ketterman and her husband Keith; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Ketterman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Falzone's memory to the Catholic Charities of Delaware, P.O. Box 2610, Wilmington, DE 19805.
