Theresa Criscio passed away peacefully on October 21, 2010 in Cadbury at Lewes, Delaware where she was a resident. She was born February 10, 1911 in West Springfield, MA, daughter of Antonetta and Anthony Siciliano.
She lived in Rehoboth Beach, DE since 2002 where she resided with her daughter Theresa Cassanelli and her husband Robert. Prior to moving to Delaware, she lived in West Springfield for over 90 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Criscio in 1962 and her brother Michael Siciliano.
Survivors include her daughter Theresa Cassanelli and her husband Robert of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her son Ralph Criscio of West Springfield; five grandchildren: Craig Cassanelli and his wife Sandy of Glastonbury,CT, Cheryl Cassanelli of Lewes, DE, Carrie Cassanelli of Nutley, NJ, Ralph Criscio Jr. and his wife Bridget of Agawam, MA, Christie Criscio of Agawam, MA; and four great grandchildren: Samantha and Amanda children of Craig and Sandy Cassanelli and Vincent and Kaleona children of Ralph Criscio Jr. and Bridget. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Criscio worked for Baker's Extract Co., Sickles, and the Black Horse Motel in West Springfield where she worked prior to retiring. She was known as "Auntie Theresa" by the hundreds of children who belonged to her 4-H club. She was a leader of the 4-H Diggers of West Springfield for 45 years. During that time, she received numerous awards including those for her window displays in many of the businesses in town. She was a member of St. Ann's Church prior to moving to Delaware. While a resident of Rehoboth Beach, she was a member of the Harbour Lights Senior Center, St. Edmond's Church and the Glade Quitters. She especially enjoyed watching her favorite Red Sox baseball team. "Win or lose, I like them" was one of her favorite sayings. In addition she told everyone "I may not be Mae West, but I'll do my best." She enjoyed telling stories of her growing up days and her early family life on Norman Street when West Springfield was still a farming community. Theresa loved playing Bingo, trips to the casino and scratching lottery tickets. She always had a smile for everyone she met and made their day a little brighter. She loved people and especially loved being with family on holidays and special occasions. She was blessed with a long life that she could share with her family and friends so they could all learn from her to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. The family would like to thank all the dedicated employees of Cadbury for their loving care of Theresa during her stay.
Funeral services were held in West Springfield with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Cabrini Parish, Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery.
