Theodore J. Rodgers' Obituary
Theodore J. Rodgers Jr., age 72, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Chester, PA, son of the late Theodore J., Sr. and Rose (Francis) Rodgers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Rodgers and one daughter, Kelley Anne Rodgers, who both died at birth and two favorite pets, Lucky Girl and Tiggy.
Mr. Rodgers has been a full time resident of Lewes since 1999, retiring here from Ridley Park, PA. He worked for the Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook, PA for 32 years before retiring. He was very involved with the social activities that Sun Oil provided their employees, including the softball, volleyball and bowling teams. After retiring in 1999, he commuted back to Sun Oil and worked as a private contractor for them until 2009. He was a man of many interests, including woodworking and model trains and was able to fix just about anything. He liked the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Nascar and spent a lot of time on the water fishing and crabbing, or just enjoying his boat.
His greatest love was his family and he enjoyed spending time with them and attending his grandchildren's school and athletic events. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother and "Pop- Pop" and will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joanne M. (Stevens) Rodgers of Lewes, DE, one son, Theodore J. Rodgers & his wife, Jodi of Port Matilda, PA, two grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlyn Rodgers of Port Matilda, PA, one brother, Robert Rodgers & wife Rae of Ridley Park, PA, one sister, Mary Ann Dugan of Lansdowne, PA, several nieces and nephews and their families and two
favorite pets, Sadie Girl and Mitzi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM at the church.
Additional viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Interment will be private.
