Thelma M. Wilson's Obituary
Thelma M. Wilson, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, at her home on the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas. Her primary residence is in Dewey Beach, DE. She was born September 13, 1917 in Dover, DE, daughter of the late Mabel Rash.
Mrs. Wilson made her home with her husband in Dewey Beach since 1948. She was the first elected Commissioner of Dewey Beach; she served three terms. She owned and operated the family business, Wilson's Variety Store, for over 40 years. For many years, Mrs. Wilson volunteered at the New Life Thrift Shop operated by Epworth United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of the Epworth community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William M. Wilson (1988) and her sister Beatrice D. O'Donnell. She is survived by her son, R. Harry Wilson and his wife Donna of Dewey Beach; two grandchildren, Jason William Wilson of Dewey Beach and Amanda C. Pace of St. Augustine, FL; three nieces, Caddie Ann Joseph of Lewes, DE, Betty Lou Bonneville of Fairbanks, AK and Nancy Willis of Dover, DE; and two life long friends, Mrs. Ethel Wood of Gregory Town, Eleuthera and Mrs. Edna Wiesel of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, 2 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Jonathan Baker will be officiating. Interment will be at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
