Teresita Tacoronte Campos' Obituary
Teresita Tacoronte Campos passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and holding hands with her beloved husband of 64 years, Isidro.
Teresita was born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba on February 22, 1937. She and her three siblings had a wonderful childhood, enjoying the natural beauty of their tropical homeland. Her family eventually moved to Havana, where she would meet her future husband. She attended the University of Havana, although her studies were cut short when she and Isidro left Cuba in 1961 to begin a new life in the United States. They initially lived in Hoboken, New Jersey, and later on in Guttenberg, Leonia, and Parsippany, before moving to Lewes, Delaware in 2021 to be closer to their two daughters.
Teresita was an enterprising and successful businesswoman. She and her husband started dry cleaning and real estate companies in Hoboken, which she co-managed for nearly 15 years until retiring to enjoy being a full-time grandmother. Among her greatest joys in life was spending time with her two granddaughters, and more recently, her great-grandson.
Teresita lived a rich and full life, traveling the world together with Isidro. She loved the sea, which reminded her of her homeland, and enjoyed many years snow birding at La Casita at Anna Maria Island, Florida and spending summers at Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She volunteered extensively, including serving as Eucharistic Minister at St. Ann Church in Parsippany. A talented chef who loved hosting meals for family and friends, Teresita made cooking and entertaining look easy. She grew her own fresh herbs and tended a beautiful rose garden on her patio.
Teresita will be fondly remembered not only by her family, but by all her friends and by all of those whose lives she touched in some special way. She was a truly generous person, always thinking of others before herself. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her spirit of generosity, Teresita’s family would be honored for donations to be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
Teresita was predeceased by her parents, Juan and Hortensia Tacoronte, as well as by her brothers, Juan and Luis Tacoronte. In addition to her husband, Isidro, she is survived by her sister, Hortensia Fernandez-Baujin and her husband, Jorge, as well as by her daughters, Teresita Campos Businelli and Maria Campos, and their respective spouses, Carlo and Kathleen. Teresita will be dearly missed by her two granddaughters, Nicole Businelli De Thier and her husband, Peter, and Stephanie Businelli, as well as by her great-grandson, Simon Louis De Thier, and her many nieces and nephews.
