Tamara Lynn Burton's Obituary
Tamara L. (Palmer) Burton, a cherished resident of Sussex County and longtime member of the Long Neck community, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, April 6, 2026, at the age of 65.
Affectionately known as Tammy, she was the daughter of James L. Palmer and Audrey J. Palmer, who preceded her in death in 1989 and 2006. Tammy graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1978 and recently retired after a dedicated 20-year career as a Customer Service Manager at Johnny Janosik.
She is survived by her sister, Jane Miller (husband James); her niece, Amanda Aviles (husband Frank) and her sons, Jarrett, and Reed Ford; as well as her life partner, William Carter, along with his children and grandchildren.
Tammy also leaves behind her beloved children: Courtney L. Ledsome (partner Kristin Morris), Sarah J. Comerford (husband John), and James Luke Burton (wife Kelsey Burton). She was a proud grandmother to Drew D. (Ledsome) Bilotti (husband Andrew), Grayson A. Ledsome, Wyatt C. Ledsome, R. Ethan Ledsome, and Rylan J. Comerford.
In addition to her immediate family, Tammy is fondly remembered by many surrogate children, extended family members—both related and chosen—and countless friends who will miss her dearly.
Services will be held at Parsell Funeral Home in Lewes, Delaware, on Monday, April 20, 2026. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private for family members. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
