Suzanne R. Baker's Obituary
Suzanne Reyam Baker, age 83, of Mill Pond Acres, Lewes, DE, died January 18, 2009. She was born in Wilmington, DE. Her parents were Alfred H. and Verona C. Reyam. Her grandfather was David Reyam, a noted artist in Wilmington during the 1920's and 1930's. Her grandmother was Susan Bunting Cherricks of Chincoteague, VA.
She was raised in Wilmington, DE and was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School in 1945 and Sullins College, Bristol, VA in 1947. She worked as a secretary for the DuPont Company until 1952. She was a past President of the Milton Century Club.
She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes, DE. Earlier, she was an active member in both St. John's Episcopal Church in Milton, DE and Grace Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE.
She enjoyed cooking, piano playing, bridge, dancing, the beach, fishing, art, knitting, gardening, playing games with her grandchildren, the Redskins and Flyers, pets, and especially her friends and close family.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony, son, David and his wife, Sandra, daughter, Barbara and her husband, Clint, eight grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife, Joanna, James and his wife Eileen, Robert and his wife Anne, Joseph, Jeremy and his wife, Jessica, Joel, Jessica and her husband Mitch, and Joy, five great grandchildren, Lily, Caroline, Ella, Dylan, and Laila. She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Second & Market Streets, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Beebe Medical Foundation, Critical Care Unit, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958 or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
