Susan M. Jones' Obituary
Susan M. Jones, age 61, of Lewes, DE, died peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Jones was born in Harrisburg, PA on November 22, 1947, daughter of the late George Smith and Mrs. Jean McQuaid Smith who lives in Lancaster, PA.
Mrs. Jones retired in 2005 after over 20 years as a teacher at the Shields Elementary School in Lewes, DE. She was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and Shippensburg College. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Her family was her life as well as her school family, she taught so many children over the years.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister Jacquelyn at an early age. She is survived her husband Harlan W. Jones; son Harlan Jones of Lewes; two daughters Ellen Shockley of Milton, DE and Sharon Williams of Media, PA; her sister Carol Sheesley of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren: Casey and Chase Williams and Luke and Jack Shockley.
Funeral services will be at St. George's Episcopal Chapel, Beaver Dam Road, Angola, DE at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2009, with Fr. Max Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the adjacent All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE (www.parsellfuneralhomes.com)
