Susan W. Grant's Obituary
Susan W. Gant, lovingly known as “Susie,” passed away peacefully at the age of 78.
Born on February 19, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, Susan was the daughter of the late John Calvert Ward and Lois Jean Pearce Ward.
Susan dedicated more than 20 years of service to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she worked as a civil engineer until her retirement. Her professionalism, intelligence, and commitment to her work left a lasting impact on those who knew and worked alongside her.
An accomplished artist, Susan found great joy in painting and drawing. She had a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms and loved spending time with dogs, observing nature, and cooking. Susan was devoted to her Jewish faith and found comfort, meaning, and strength in her spirituality throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Seth Gant of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter, Tezeta Gant of South Korea; her sisters, Caroline W. Schroth of Chestertown, Maryland, and Margaret W. McLaughlin of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; and her brother, David P. Ward of Bethesda, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
