Sue Gable's Obituary
Frances "Sue" Gable of Lewes, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. She was the daughter of the late Mabel and Dale Corbin Haines, born on July 11, 1920 in Altoona, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson B. Gable (1983). After meeting at West Chester State College, they were married in 1942 on Christmas day during Nelson's leave as an officer serving in the China-Burma-India Theater of WWII.
Sue was an elementary school teacher in Reedsville, PA for 6 years and a kindergarten teacher in Abington, PA for 16 years before her retirement in 1976. After relocating to Lewes, she was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church Choir and a faithful weekly volunteer at Beebe Medical Center. She was also a member of the Eulalia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Coudersport, PA. She enjoyed music, children, flowers, wildlife and social activities.
She is survived by one son, Robert N. Gable and wife Trish of Lewes, DE; one daughter, Suenell G. Steele and husband W. Darrell of Lewes, DE; and two grandsons, William Corbin Steele and Spencer G Steele, both of Lewes, DE.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the New Oxford Cemetery, 4971 York Road, New Oxford, PA 17350. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lewes.
