Stuart "Stu" L. Smith's Obituary
Stuart L. Smith, age 71, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Oradell, NJ, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was born in New York City, NY, on July 6, 1941, son of the late Robert E. and Lydia (Brussow) Smith.
Stu, as he was affectionately known, moved to Lewes in 2007 with his wife. He enjoyed a long career in commercial real estate lending, first for 25 years with Chase Manhattan Bank, now JP Morgan Chase, and the remainder of his career with Fleet Bank, Cranford, NJ. He retired in 1994. Stu had an enormous talent for working with wood, he could take any piece of wood and turn it into a masterpiece. He was very handy and could fix anything and liked tinkering with cars. He served with the U.S. Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Patricia L. (VanDyke) Smith, he is survived by two daughters: Valerie Smith of Flanders, NJ and Stephanie Smith of Lewes, DE and her fiancé Jason Baines, of Ocean View, DE; and his sister, Victoria Henzel and her husband George of Winchester, VA.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers,, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
