Steven Wade Burdette's Obituary
Steven Wade Burdette, aged 67, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, in Dover, Delaware. Born in Washington, D.C., on January 7, 1958, to the late Barbara Turner and Frank Burdette, Steven, known for his resolute spirit and contagious optimism, made a profound impact on the lives of those around him.
Steven, a proud graduate of Rockville High School, went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Army for four years as a diesel mechanic stationed in Germany. His experiences abroad both shaped his character and confirmed his passion for mechanics. Upon returning to civilian life, he channeled his skills into becoming the esteemed business owner of Burdette's Fleet Maintenance, where his work ethic and innovative spirit were well known throughout the community.
Aside from his professional achievements, Steven found great joy in his personal hobbies. An avid builder of motorcycles, he found solace in the intricate work of custom painting and fabrication. He also had a love for target shooting, a passion he often shared with friends and family. True moments of contentment were found in the simple pleasure of drinking coffee and spending quality time with his loved ones.
Steven is lovingly remembered by his family, including his son Eric Burdette and wife Wendy from Bridgeville, DE; son Shane Burdette and wife Mindy from Salisbury, MD; son Joey Burdette and wife Emmalee from Laurel, DE; grandchildren Spencer Burdette and wife Oksana from Hampton, VA, Colton, and Kinslee Burdette, both from Laurel, DE; and great-grandchild Everett from Hampton, VA. His former spouse, Barbara Burdette, cherishes the memories of their life together.
Steven Wade Burdette's legacy will be felt through the countless lives he touched with his boundless energy and enduring love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with a smile that could light up a room.
