I will always be grateful to Dr. Kahane. As a young physician out of residency, he hired me to work in Tuskegee, Alabama. At a time when jobs for anesthesiologists were scarce. Although I had never been to Alabama in my life, Stan did everything in his power to make me feel welcome. He gave me great advice on learning to live in my new environment and he invited me to his home. He helped me meet new people and make friends and I very quickly felt at ease.
Stan was a great leader and was always willing to listen. His calm demeanor and strong stewardship made it easy to cope for me and he was well regarded as a patient and wise leader. The medical center where we worked together was a very demanding environment but Stan's patient attitude always helped him gain friends who were on his side.
Years later I had the pleasure of celebrating Passover with him, friends and family. He was always warm, congenial and hence was loved and respected by many. I remember him as a speaker who's sincerity and cheerfulness empowered others and brought warmth to community.
I offer my deepest condolences to his family as his loss is one that is surely felt by the many people he has touched in his life both personally and professionally.
