Captain Stanley J. Johnson Sr.

Captain Stanley J. Johnson, Sr. passed away June 9, 2006 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was born in Rochester NY, moved with his family to Chester PA in 1922 and settled in Lewes in 1946.
He served in the South Pacific during WW II from 1943-1946 as captain of an Army trawler gathering intelligence and fish for the troops in the northern Solomon's around New Guinea and Guadalcanal.
Stan was a licensed charter boat captain since 1934 operating his own boat out of the Angler's in Lewes since 1946 and operated the "Dreamboat" from 1950 to the mid 90's.
He also was a charter member and helped build American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.
He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Laura Johnson, who were born in Lithuania and his grandfather who was a Swedish sailboat captain who helped build Queen Anne's Pier in Lewes in 1878.
He is survived by his son, Stanley J. Johnson Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and three step-sons; James, William and Leo Kuneman.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2006 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Delaware at 11 AM where friends my call two hours prior. Interment will be private.
