Sibylla Buffaloe's Obituary
Sibylla Buffaloe, age 86, died May 29, 2015 at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, MD with her children by her side. She was born in Dortmund, Germany, daughter of the late Katharina Jahrling Matt and Franz Lowack.
Sibylla met her husband, Gilbert Buffaloe, when he was stationed in Germany after WWII. They were married in 1950 and Sibylla left her home and family to travel with Gilbert throughout his 28 year Army career.
Sibylla was a proud homemaker and mother, who always put her family’s needs before her own. She kept the home fires burning when Gilbert was deployed, which happened often. She was an avid gardener, excelled at many different crafts, was a wonderful cook, and loved books and movies. She helped care for all of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Anyone who got to know Sibylla recognized her as a force of nature.
Sibylla lived in Glen Burnie, MD for more than 40 years. She and Gilbert moved to Delaware in 2003. Her last residence was at Brandywine Senior Living, Fenwick Island, where she was very active. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, and many of the other activities. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and was a regular on karaoke night.
Sibylla was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Gilbert, and her sister, Theresia Kessling. She leaves behind two daughters, Karen Pharr (Don) and Diana Gresham (Bob). She also leaves three grandchildren, Kim Gettier, Carissa Hall (Bob), and Rob Gresham (Heather) and five great grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Conner, Logan, and Abigail. In addition, Sibylla is survived by two brothers living in Germany. All of them will miss her greatly.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow the services at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
