Shirley Ann Johnson's Obituary
Shirley Ann Johnson, age 66, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on August 13, 2016, in Milford, DE after a struggle with cancer, surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born in Pennsylvania on May 23, 1950 to mother Edna Ebersole. She was the oldest of three children. When her minor siblings were in need of a home, Shirl took them in and cared for them with her own children. She later moved to Delaware where she met and then on September 23,1992 married Timothy McDonald. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2010.
Shirley was a longtime resident of Millsboro, DE and was employed at Food Lion in Long Neck for nearly 17 years.
Shirley was a physically tiny person but extremely strong and tough. She was very hard working and determined. Shirl was a loving and loyal woman, fiercely protective of those she cared for. She enjoyed travelling and had the pleasure of seeing much of the east coast sailing with her late husband and especially liked the Florida Keys. She even journeyed to Alaska several times. She loved fishing and boating and these adventures suited her well. Shirley was fond of spending time with her family, close friends and her dog. She had a gift for gardening and spent countless hours planting flowers and landscaping. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Candace McAlister of Millsboro, DE; brother, Greg Ebersole of Rohrerstown, PA; son in law, Thomas McAlister of Millsboro, DE and her grandchildren, Kayla Johnson of Anchorage, AK, Devohn Hebert, Brenden Hebert and Lillie McAlister of Millsboro, DE.
Services will be held this Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
