Memories of Shelby Christine DePrisco…
The love for Shelby, in her most recent earthly residence, Bartlesville, OK, was evident at both her Rosary and Mass, earlier this week. Each venue was filled with relatives, friends and families who will sorely miss her. Shelby’s “go-to, get-it-done, let’s-have-fun-helping-others” attitudes were beautiful examples of the love of Christ, displayed in her life to friends, like Molly and so many others. With her encouragement, they learned that “we can serve this community, together” and enrich lives, in the process! It is no surprise that Shelby would be such an example of love to her neighbors, because her middle name set her apart as being “an image-bearer for Christ” at her earliest moments!
Home schooling, public schooling and church were all part of Shelby’s life, as she loved all people well. She prepared her husband and five amazing children for a life with God, respecting others, pursuing a good education, using creativity, caring for people and having fun, in the process. She was esteemed by so many, but none more than (as I got to see, first hand, in recent months) her strong, encouraging mother, who literally cherished each day that Shelby got to be Shelby! This young woman truly leaves a beautiful legacy for her loving husband, James, her devoted children and all others who knew or have simply heard of her!
As the Psalm that began the Requiem Mass on Tuesday implored, “the joy of her Savior’s salvation has been completely restored” to Shelby, as she now rests in His presence! May Jesus also comfort all those who Shelby touched, until that day, when all believers will be together with her in eternal joy!
With much love to Shelby's family,
