Sharon Lee Hyatt's Obituary
Obituary for Sharon L. Hyatt (Luker)
Sharon L. Hyatt (Luker), age 78, of Lewes, DE, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, leaving a profound emptiness in the hearts of her family and friends. Born on December 30, 1946, in Wilmington, DE, Sharon was the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Luker (Duddy). She grew up in Pennsville, NJ, eventually moving to Lewes, DE, in 1994.
Sharon and James were married for 33 years, and their bond was a testament to their deep love and devotion to each other. Sharon was a dedicated mother to Wayne Data and Kimberly Bradshaw, and a loving stepmother to James Hyatt II and Jennifer Tyler. She was a loving dog mom to Carson Hyatt. She was a proud grandmother to 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and 7 grand-dogs, each of whom she adored with all her heart.
Sharon graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1964 and attended Goldie-Beacom College, where she obtained her associate’s degree in business. She spent the majority of her career in the Pennsville School District, holding multiple positions where she was beloved by many students over the years. She spent the later part of her career as an Assistant Manager at Peebles in Rehoboth, DE.
A lifelong sports enthusiast who never learned to ride a bike, Sharon was passionate about horse racing, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies. Whether cheering from home, attending games, or traveling to Saratoga, NY, to watch the horse races, Sharon’s enthusiasm was contagious. Her family fondly remembers her infectious excitement during game days and her love for sharing those special moments with them. She was also an avid soap opera watcher; you could find her daily watching her stories, The Young and The Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful, from 12:30 to 2. Among her favorites were As the World Turns and The Guiding Light.
Sharon was a woman known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity. She had a unique ability to find the best in her students and people in general, and always tried to make the best of every situation. She will be remembered for how she was able to maintain the closest friendships, no matter the distance.
Sharon is survived by her husband, James Hyatt; her children, son Wayne Data and fiancé Tami Burright; daughter Kimberly (Data) Bradshaw and husband Roy; James Hyatt II and wife Mary; Jennifer Tyler and husband Mark; her grandchildren, Charlotte Data, Jonathan Data, Thomas Data, Joseph Data, and Cody Hyatt; her great-grandchildren, Nikita, Keanu, and Messiah; her beloved dog Carson; her grand-dogs Ruiz, Copper, Penny Bradshaw, Stella, Efron Hyatt, Milo, Otis Tyler, and Diamond and Luna Data; as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Luker, mother Edna Luker (Duddy), and many beloved dogs: Fluffy, Ziggy, Sammy, Donovan, and Petey.
Though Sharon’s passing was sudden, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her love, spirit, and devotion to her family will never be forgotten.
