Sharon Rae Dukes' Obituary
It is with a deep sense of loss and profound respect that we announce the passing of Sharon Rae Dukes, who left us on the 1st of June 2024, at the age of 75. Born on the 18th of June 1948, in Pennsylvania, Sharon spent her final days in the warmth and comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sharon, a graduate of Bridgeville High School, went on to study for a year at the University of Delaware before ultimately dedicating much of her life to her beloved family and the travel business she owned and operated. Her professional journey was marked by the titles of both secretary and entrepreneur.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sharon's life was rich with love, literature, and the pursuit of joy. Weekly Sunday dinners with her family were a testament to her devotion as a mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and poet, with a passion for bringing words to life amid the pages of her own poems. Sharon's adventurous spirit often found her traveling or savoring the simple pleasure of eating crabs while cheering on the Orioles baseball games.
Survived by her beloved husband, Wayne Allen Dukes, and her devoted children, Robyn Sturgeon with her husband Mike, Heather Stokley with her husband Chris, Timothy J. Dukes with his wife Rachel, and Krista Schirmer with her husband Morgan, Sharon's life was a testament to love and dedication. Her sister, Karen Parker, along with her cherished grandchildren – Chad, Kyle, Jonathan, McKinley, Drew, Aubrey, Ethan, Natalee, Emilee, Aaron, and her great-grandchild, Colt Sturgeon – also carry her spirit forward.
She was predeceased by her caring parents, Patricia and Ray Ellerman of Bridgeville, DE. Sharon's beautiful tapestry of life was woven with dedication, warmth, and an immeasurable generosity of spirit that touched all who knew her.. Sharon Rae Dukes will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she loved.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00PM at Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws Street Bridgeville, DE 19933 where friends and Family may visit at 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Bridgeville Cemetery , Market St & S law St, Bridgeville , DE 19933.
