Sharon Alice Seifert's Obituary
Sharon Alice Seifert (Sanders), 78, of Milton, Delaware died Wednesday December 31, 2025, after a prolonged battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born in Rochester, New York, on December 18, 1947, Sharon was the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Sanders and Mary Etta Sanders (Durbin). She was a graduate of Westminster High School (class of 1962) in Carroll County, Maryland and Wesley College (class of 1995) in Dover, Delaware, earning a Bachelor of Science degree as a working mother. Sharon was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society.
Throughout her career she held sales administration positions with Rowan Controls, Gould, Inc. and K&L Microwave. After relocating to Delaware, Sharon was hired as the Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director and Head Cheerleading coach at Wesley College. She received the Faculty Award for service to student athletes and coaching staff.
Sharon then accepted a legislative liaison position with the Delaware Senate. She later transitioned to the Delaware Department of Technology & Information as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Technology Officer, until her retirement from public service.
She held a lifelong passion for physical fitness competing as a cheerleader, runner, aerobic fitness instructor, college cheerleader coach, and certified cheerleading competition judge. In retirement, Sharon adopted the Zumba community as her next challenge.
Sharon was well respected for her gentle style, compassion, and sense of fair play. She fostered many student athletes through their growing pains with words of encouragement, clean clothes, and a warm meal. She is remembered as always by their side and in their hearts.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother, James Arlington Sanders. She is survived by her husband, Richard Eugene Seifert, of Milton, Delaware: daughter Krista, son Eric (Kim) and grandsons Rowen and Ethan; her sister Elizabeth Darnell (Jerry), niece Angela (Josh) and nephew Charles.
