Sandra Lynn Zacco's Obituary
SANDRA (SANDY) LYNN ZACCO
Sandra Zacco, 79, of Milton, DE (formerly of Waldwick, NJ), passed peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2025, at Brandywine Living, Seaside Pointe, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Sandy will always be remembered for her gentle spirit and kind heart. She spent the majority of her life in Waldwick, where she formed long-time friendships dating back to second grade, some of which lasted throughout her life. Sandy and her family were integral members of their community, serving in many community-centered organizations.
Sandy was devoted to her family and was a big part of their traditional shared Sunday dinners. There was always room at their table for anyone who might just happen to drop by.
After graduating from Midland Park High School in Midland Park, NJ, she worked as a computer analyst at HOAN Products for several years and completed her career at Konica Minolta in Mahwah, NJ, working in the finance department.
She adored being at the beach. There wasn’t a beach from Nova Scotia, Canada, to Key West, Florida, that she didn’t love, and it was along those beaches that she developed her interest in shelling. On every beach she visited, she found a unique “treasure” to add to her well-known collection.
Two other of Sandy’s avid interests were animals and gardening, taking special joy in growing flowers and tomatoes.
In 2012, Sandy retired to Milton, Delaware, where her enjoyment of nature, the ocean, animals, and shells came together. It was there that she spent many relaxing hours enjoying the outdoors and the sunshine.
Her dog, Haley, was her favorite walking companion. It was during daily walks through her neighborhood that Sandy and Haley came to know and enjoy their kind and loving neighbors. Their kindness extended throughout Sandy’s time in Milton.
Preceding Sandy in death were her father, Samuel (Sam); her mother, Myra (née Berry); and her brother, Samuel (Ricky).
Sandy is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Kathy) Zacco; her long-time companion, Margaret (Maggie) Salamon; her nephew, William Daly; and great-nephew, Liam Mateo-Daly, both of Aurora, CO, as well as numerous other family members, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium – Atkins Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate, or to your local animal rescue shelter.
