Sandra Lynne Workman's Obituary
Sandy Workman, age 75, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Lewes, DE.
Sandy was a loving daughter, friend, wife, mother, grandmother and animal lover. Sandy lived many places growing up and made great lifelong friends at Metuchen High School. She met husband David while living in Pittsburgh, they were married at the Presbyterian Church in Haddonfield, NJ September 2,1972. Sandy spent most of her life raising her family in Chesterfield, NJ. They retired to Lewes, DE in 2022.
Sandy was a horseshow mom despite the early wake up times, crafted quilts and always had many projects - always seeing the promise and beauty in something restored. She made the world's best spaghetti, lasagna, chili, peanut butter sandwiches and pound cake. Sandy cared for beautiful flower gardens and was the maker of Christmas magic. She was always available for a long phone conversation with her daughters or friends, or a board game challenge with her grandsons. Her home was always open for friends and family to drop by and she cared for many, many pets over the years, including numerous cats, dogs, horses, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a very old frog. She is missed tremendously.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Workman; daughter Jill Kennedy and husband Ryan Kennedy, grandson Graham Kennedy; daughter Jenny Colgate and husband Scott Colgate, grandsons Reed and Ben Colgate. She is also survived by her beloved critters, Rhett, Paddy, Leo, Louise, and Alibi. She was predeceased in death by her parents Richard and Mona Morken.
Sandy loved the saying “It takes a long time to make an old friend.” and she was one to many.
