Sandra K. (Lichner) Keck

Sandra K. (Lichner) Keck, 60, of Lewes, DE went on to be with the Lord on January 24, 2006 at her late residence. She was born on June 18, 1945 in Tatamy, PA daughter of the late Joseph G. Lichner, Sr. and Arlene (Shive) Lichner.
Sandy received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA in 1961 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wesley College, Dover, with a BS in Nursing in 1991. Sandy started her professional career as Staff Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA from 1966-1967, continuing with VNA in Wilmington, DE from 1967-1969. Then from 1974-1980 she was an Office Nurse for Dr. E. L. Stambaugh, Lewes, and from 1980-1981 a Staff Nurse at Beebe Medical Center. From 1981-1984 she served with the Oncology Staff at Beebe Medical Center before working for Delaware Hospice as a Patient Care Coordinator in Lewes and Dover from 1984-1991. From 1992 until 1997 she was Family Care Coordinator for Parsell Funeral Homes and from 1998-2003 she served as the Director of Programs at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes, DE.
Sandy was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she belonged to the 1st Town Ringers , served as Chairperson for the Council on Ministries, had been a Jr. High Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She was a founding member of the Southern Division of Delaware Hospice. Mrs. Keck was a member of the Hospice Nurse's Association and the Alpha Chi Scholastic Honorary Society. In 1985 she received the Outstanding Practitioner of the Year Award in Human Services presented by the Sussex Co. Interagency Council. In 1982 she and her family was awarded the Scouting Family of the Year.
Survivors include her husband Richard T. Keck; two sons, David C. Keck and his wife Michelle of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Gregory S. Keck of Costa Rica; a grandson, Andrew Keck and a granddaughter, Ellie Keck; three brothers, Robert Lichner of Bethlehem, PA, Joseph Lichner Jr. of Nazareth, PA and Rev. F. Thomas Lichner of Allentown, PA; and two sisters, Patricia Weisel of Concord, NC and Carol Frace of Tatamy, PA.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006, 3 PM at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, DE. A viewing will be held Friday evening, January 27, 6-9 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Burial will be private.
