We mourn the passing of a great lady and supporter always of the GFWC DSFWC especially the GFWC DSFWC Federation Day Event - she attended for years following the closing of the New Castle Women’s Clubs / New Castle Garden Club doors on the green in New Castle of their club and clubhouse.

And, a thank you to Sandy for always sending a $100 check to our Federation Day Fundraiser for which we are grateful.

We mourn this tremendous loss for our organization and to the family of Sandy.

She remains deep seated in my memory as a strong leader with a clear-cut decision making process and Sandy was always kind and loyal to her club members and guest.

It was my distinct pleasure and honor to attend the club teas and dinners in the historic clubhouse in New Castle, Delaware. Guest were graciously welcomed by members such as Rose Gamacorda and Jerry Mc Laughlin, while Sandy conducted meetings and served everyone with her charming personality.

Dear Dave and family, I am so sorry that Sandy had to leave us. We have been friends since 6th grade and we go back a long way. She was a good friend and I always enjoy being with her. I am also glad that I got to speak to her before she left us. She was a good friend and we shared a lot of girl secrets when we were growing up. I know that she is not suffering and is at peace. Take comfort in knowing that she loved everyone, and she is not suffering anymore. We will see you Sunday.

I am so sad to hear about Sandy passing away. I knew Sandy through the GFWC Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs. I was a Vice President for New Castle County many years ago and she attended the meetings I held in my home. Most recently Sandy supported me as State President and through the years has steadfastly contributed via her club to state Conventions, Membership Luncheons, and also to HOBY, the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar, held yearly in June. She was a proud clubwoman and carried on as most of her fellow New Castle Century Club women passed away and stopped participating. If there are archives of the club that Sandy would have wanted to pass on I would be willing to take them and arrange for them to be kept in the State Federation archives at the Dover Library. I know her friends and family will miss Sandy greatly, as will I.

Dave and Family, I will never forget all the time we spent together at the beach, in Gatlinburg at the cottage and all the times inbetween in Hollidaysburg visiting. When not in person, then on the phone at all hours. Sandy was a big part of all of it. She spent the last years of her life being a real trooper in spite of great discomfort.
