Sandra D. Horvai's Obituary
Sandra D. Horvai, age 80 of Lewes, DE and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes. She was born on April 21, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Joseph R. and Esther (Stern) Dietz.
Mrs. Horvai was a graduate of Souderton High School, Class of 1956. She attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1956-1960 and returned in 1973, after the birth of her sixth child, to complete her training in Cytotechnology. She built a career as a Cytotechnologist, working for The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, and Temple University, retiring in 2006 after 33 dedicated years.
Mrs. Horvai was a member of Greater Lewes Community Village. She enjoyed knitting and the company of all of her pets. Above all, Mrs. Horvai cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horvai was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Horvai. She is survived by her children: Esther J. Kernosh of Lewes, DE, Theodore Kernosh of Penargyl, PA, Solomon Kernosh of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Mollie S. Calabrese (Mauricio) of Alexandria, VA, Francine D. Mitcham of Falls Church, VA, and Sheldon E. Kernosh (Ann Menichelli) of Hatboro, PA; her grandchildren: Aubrey Inkster, Brittany Monser, Jacob Monser, Savanah Kernosh, Indigo Kernosh, Katsura Kernosh, Oziwa Kernosh, Annalise Kernosh, Sophia Kernosh, Heather Mitcham, Madeleine Mitcham, Martina Kernosh, and Joelle Kernosh; her great-granddaughter, Luca Prieto; and her 3 beloved pets: Chelsea the dog, Kitty the cat, and Lefty the parrot.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Horvai's memory to the Greater Lewes Community Village, 16686 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
