Samuel Willey's Obituary
Samuel W. Willey, age 91, of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home in Millsboro. Mr. Willey was born July 15, 1916 in Bridgeville, DE son of the late William and Julia (Hudson) Willey.
Mr. Willey worked 50 years as a button cutter in the Georgetown area. He later repaired lawn mowers. He and his beagles hunted rabbits for years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Willey (1956) and his second wife, Pauline Messick Willey; a daughter, Beatrice Brittingham and her husband Dalton; a son James G. Willey; and a grandson Robert Clark Brittingham. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Byram of Littitz, PA; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several step-children and step-grandchildren; a brother, William Willey, Jr. of Federalsburg, MD; and four sisters, Kathleen Cain and her husband Herbert of Harrington, DE, Reene Petter and Mary Scott both of Federalsburg, MD, and Ruth Sweetman of California; and Bonnie Collins of Ocean View, DE who was like a daughter to him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2008, 11 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be at Hebron Cemetery, Rt. 9 west of Rt. 113, Georgetown. Doug Albert, Delaware Hospice Chaplain will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home, 231 Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966.
