Ryan C. Ennis' Obituary
Ryan Christopher Ennis, 34, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away peacefully, on June 15, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Ryan was a fighter, a leader, and a man who truly made every moment count. He embraced an active lifestyle, loved helping others but above all, cherished his role as a husband and father.
Born on August 23, 1990, Ryan was the beloved son of Christopher and Kimberly (Donovan) Ennis. He grew up in Middletown, a graduate of St. Mark’s High School, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from West Chester University.
Ryan’s passion for helping others led him to a career as a personal trainer at Rise and eventually as a life coach and motivational speaker—roles in which he inspired and motivated many. While working in the restaurant industry he created Beyond the Bar United to improve the quality of life for those who work in the restaurant industry, so that they may better the lives of everyone they come in contact with. One of his most notable accomplishments in 2022, receiving the Industry Impact Award.
In recent years Ryan used his motivational skills and platform to leverage fundraising for charities such as the Delaware Food Banks, Special Olympics, and families with children with special needs. In recognition of his selfless spirit, the state of Delaware designated his birthday as Random Act of Kindness Day, in his honor.
An active member of Solid Ground Church, he loved Jesus and lived his life as a man of strong faith, always leading by example. Ryan's life mission was to leave the world a better place than he found it, while leading those who knew him closer to having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Brittany, and their two sons, Colgan Rush and Shane River. He is also survived by his parents, Christopher and Kimberly Ennis; his parents-in-law, Robert and Sharon Orenshaw; his brother, Sean Ennis (Duncan); his sister-in-law, Casey Hart (Andrew); brothers-in-law Matthew Orenshaw and Nicholas Orenshaw (Kelley); and his grandparents Kass & Steven Steinmacher. He leaves behind two beloved dogs, Brody and Nala, and is mourned by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were like family.
Ryan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Ryan’s Life will be announced at a later date.
