Ruth Pepper's Obituary
Ruth Saulsbury Pepper went to be with her Lord on December 20, 2016. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to so many. She will certainly be missed by those who knew her.
Ruth was born July 26, 1928 and grew up in Ridgely, MD. She graduated from Ridgely High School. She came to the Lewes area to attend Beebe School of Nursing and lived in Lewes the rest of her life. In Lewes, she met her husband of 60 years, the late Ransford Bryan Pepper. After graduating from Beebe School of Nursing, Ruth worked for Dr. E. L. Stambaugh until leaving the workforce to raise a family. Later she returned to nursing and was employed as a nurse at Beebe Hospital, until retiring after over 30 years. She later combined her love for plants and people in a several year career at Tom Best’s store in the garden center.
Ruth loved gardening and needle work and excelled at both. She also loved traveling and seeing new places, as long as air travel was not required. She loved having family and friends visit, especially if she could convince them to play the game ‘UpWords’ where she was usually victorious against all comers.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Ruth Saulsbury, her husband, Bryan Pepper, brother, Albert Saulsbury and sister, Patricia Rhodes. She is survived by her three sons, Kline Pepper and wife, Julia of Sherrills Ford, NC, George Pepper and wife, Kathy of Lewes, Donald Pepper and wife, Paula of Rehoboth, and daughter, Shirley Mitchell and her companion, Tee Hamilton, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Daniel Saulsbury and Charles Saulsbury and sister, Mary Dunn and many nieces and nephews.
