Ruth Anne Nash's Obituary
Ruth Anne Nash, 92, of Georgetown, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully on November 6, 2014 in Cadbury at Lewes. Ruth was born on May 13, 1922, at home in Wilmington, daughter of the late Lewis W. and Louise B. (Patterson) Zebley.
Ruth worked for the DuPont Company following her graduation from P.S. DuPont High School, as well as for Dr. Emil Mayerberg as a substitute secretary and office assistant. She worked in a similar capacity for Dr. John Benge for many years.
Following the sudden death of her husband, John J. Nash in 1964, Ruth sought full-time employment, first with the Brandywine School District, then with the DuPont Company at their Chambers Works facility and then at the Foulk Road Plaza offices. She retired from DuPont in 1985 and moved to Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Ruth was a talented knitter who enjoyed making countless mittens for many needy children. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed ballroom dancing.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) in 1964, her son John R. in 1972 and her brothers, Morris and Donald Zebley. She is survived by her daughter, Jane L. Johnson (William) of Milford, MA, her son Thomas S. Nash (Susan) of Redlands, CA; her four grandchildren: Elizabeth Johnson Klein (Benjamin) of Alexandria, VA, Peter W. Johnson of Weymouth Landing, MA, John Nash of Canberra, Australia and Jeremy Nash of Brisbane, Australia; and her two great-granddaughters: Nora and Elsie Klein of Alexandria, VA.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the excellent caregivers and staff at Beebe Hospital, Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center and Cadbury Health Center at Lewes.
A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
