Ruth Evelyn Aldenberg's Obituary
Ruth Evelyn Aldenberg, age 85, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Beebe Healthcare, after a brief illness. She was born on March 24, 1937, in Wakefield, MA, daughter of the late Carl and Frances (Bronson) Hanson.
Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Wakefield High School. She was a life-long New Englander with great love for the coast of Maine. She moved first to Virginia and then to Lewes to be near her daughter and family. Her love of numbers led her to a life-long career as an accountant. For many years, she was employed by Servomation Corporation of Stoneham, MA, a career that both challenged and fulfilled her. Ruth loved to explore new places and she travelled extensively, as often as possible. Her favorite trips included London, Iceland and visiting family in Sweden and Norway as well as family in New England. When she wasn’t exploring the world, she found contentment by sewing and knitting, creating many beautiful things for family and friends. Above all, her devotion to her family took precedence and the time that she was able to spend with them was dear to her heart. Ruth was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Hanson and her sister, Linnea Overlan as well as her nephew Carl Stephen Hanson. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lin Roberts (Glenn) of Lewes, DE; her grandson, Erik Carl Roberts of Lewes, DE; her nieces, Katherine Capone, of Center Barnstead, NH and Cherryl Hanson Bull of Wakefield, MA; her nephews, John Overlan of Lexington, KY and David Overlan of Connecticut, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2023 in Ogunquit, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Ms. Aldenberg’s memory to Shriner’s Children’s Boston, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114 (www.lovetotherescue.org)
