Roy Ratlief's Obituary
Roy Walter Ratlief passed away peacefully on February 12, 2017 with his loving wife at his side. He was a strong and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose memory will live on in all who knew him.
Roy had a long and successful career at Bethlehem Steel in Sparrow’s Point, where he made many lasting friendships. Once retired, cherished memories were made with family and friends, often on the golf course and by the swimming pool at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida. He later returned to Maryland to be closer to family. Continuing his favorite pastime of golf, he befriended many new neighbors at Prospect Bay in Grasonville and at Heritage Shores in Bridgeville, Delaware.
Beloved husband of Evelyn Louise Ratlief, Roy is also survived by his children, Roy W. (Chip) Ratlief Jr. and Lana S. Matovcik; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ratlief and son-in-law, Ron Matovcik; grandchildren, Carey Ward, René Mayo and Jennifer Brandau; great-grandchildren, Jake & Ben Mayo and Turner & Piper Brandau. He is also survived by brother, David Ratlief and sisters-in-law, Pat Ratlief, Carol Ratlief, and Shay Corneby.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM March 4, 2017 at Fairview United Methodist Church, 13916 Jarrettsville Pike, Phoenix, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Roy's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (100 Painters Mill Rd., #800, Owings Mills, MD 21117) or Fairview United Methodist Church (13916 Jarrettsville Pike, Phoenix, MD 21131).
