Roy Thomas Comer's Obituary
Roy Thomas “Tom” Comer
Tom Comer, 76, passed away from natural causes at his home after a long illness. Tom was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Roy M. Comer and Mildred (Waddey) Comer, spent his formative years in Kennett Square, PA helping his father build their family home.
Upon graduation from Temple University, Tom began his 35 year career as a Project Manager with Builders and Managers of Wilmington Delaware.
Tom was a quiet, observant man with a devilish grin and sharp wit. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone and if you told him something in confidence you knew it was under lock and key forever. Tom loved his friends with whom he spent many a sunny day at the beach on North Shores. He, and his beloved husband John traveled extensively all over the world, from Shanghai to Luxor to Machu Pichu. He had a passion for architecture, a keen eye for design and was, himself, a talented draftsman.
Tom took pride in his home and his yard. One of the original owners in his development, he took special pains to maintain a cordial relationship with all his neighbors, always ready to lend a helping hand or strike up a friendly conversation.
Tom is survived by his husband, John Cooley of Rehoboth Beach, DE, his cousins Wanda Barwell of Savannah, GA, Jane Brown of Newport, DE and Patty Dumler of Baltimore, MD as well as a large extended family, a multitude of friends and colleagues and his adoring, chihuahua, Mouse.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and friends who supported Tom with unwavering love and compassion during his final days.
There will be a private family service held in Baltimore, MD as well as Lewes, DE. A celebration of Tom’s life will take place this Fall at his home on a date to be determined.
