Rose A. Vizthum's Obituary
Rose A. Vizthum, age 83, formerly of Laurel, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 01, 2017, at Seaford Center Nursing Home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on Friday, July 28, 1933, daughter of the late Nicole and Dorotea (Filardo) Mendolia.
Mrs. Vizthum was a seamstress for over 20 years. She retired in 1977 when she married her love, Howard, and together they enjoyed the pleasures of retirement together. They traveled as far north as upstate PA and as far south as the Florida Keys, camping in their pop-up trailer. Together they liked exploring weekend yard sales and taking rides on the local ferry. Always a creative woman, Mrs. Vizthum loved to make holiday crafts and sold them at craft fairs around the area. She was an avid gardener, working in her backyard garden, and she found great joy in barbecueing and cooking big meals for her husband. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she enjoyed socializing with the other members, and loved her involvement with Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and her Bible Study group. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vizthum was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Vizthum. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dennis (Pete Lala); her grandson, Everett Dennis III; her stepson, Howard Vizthum Jr. (Robin); her stepdaughters: Laurel Silva, Wendy Vizthum, and Anita Vizthum; and all of her grandchildren and great-grandbabies.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 33088 Mt. Pleasant Road, Laurel, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Vizthum's memory to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713, or www.seasons.org.
