Rose M. Quinn's Obituary
Rose M. Quinn, Spunky and Talented Lady
Rose Margaret Quinn, 96, of Lewes died the morning of Wednesday, September 13 at Beebe Healthcare. She was born June 4, 1921 in Linwood, Pennsylvania.
After attending Immaculate Heart business school in Chester, Pennsylvania, Rose went to work for Scott Paper Company. She worked in the paper plant during WWII and ended her career as an executive assistant, staying with the company for more than 35 years. She moved to Lewes over 30 years ago from Media, Pennsylvania and swiftly created a community of close friends with her husband Sam. She was an avid golfer, winning many tournaments into her eighties. She travelled extensively with her husband and friends, enjoying cruises in the Baltic, Caribbean excursions, and escapades across Europe.
Rose was a talented crafter, creating beautiful embroidered samplers, wonderful quilts, and custom clothing for her family. She and Sam were known for hosting many an enjoyable happy hour and his martinis and sense of humor have been much missed since he passed in 2008. Rose was a great cook and known for specialties that she had perfected over many years, such as coconut custard pie, rice pudding, and of course her spinach balls.
Rose is survived by her daughter Maureen Quinn; her granddaughter, Julia Ortiz; her grandson-in-law John Marotta Jr.; her sister Emily Gallione; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends and neighbors. She lived life to the fullest, was an inspiration to us all and will be much missed.
Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
