Ronald Gary Tull's Obituary
Ronald Gary Tull, 65, passed away peacefully into the Lord's embrace on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, surrounded by his family. Ron fought a gallant battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme, a Grade 4 brain cancer, for over 15 months. He stayed the course, won the race, and is now in his Heavenly home.
Ron was born January 21, 1948, in Milford, DE, the first-born child of Leroy and Marian Tull. A well-known young athlete in Delaware, Ron was awarded numerous recognitions, including Outstanding Lineman at the Blue Gold Game in 1966. Ron graduated from the University of Bridgeport, which led to a long career in Human Resources with NCR, Nortel, and GlaxoSmithKline. It has been said that Ron focused on the “human” in human resources, and was a highly admired and respected colleague and friend to all who had the pleasure to work with him. Ron retired from corporate life in 2008 and joined his wife, Mary Lou, at Fonville-Morisey Realty as a real estate broker, doing business as Tull Realty Group. Ron was an active member of Colonial Baptist Church, and could often be found ushering on Sunday morning, always ready with a warm handshake and a kind word of fellowship for “his people”. Ron served his Lord, community, and family with uncommon love, strength, and dignity. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Gregory Tull, in 1993.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mary Louise (Evans) Tull of Cary, NC; parents, Leroy Thomas Tull and Marian (Breeding) Tull of Bridgeville, DE; daughter, Wendy (Tull) Parker of Fuquay-Varina, NC; step-daughter Emily (Myers) Chappell and husband Christopher of Pittsboro, NC; step-son, Matthew Myers of Knightdale, NC; brother, Daryl Tull and wife Barbara of Bridgeville, DE; brother, Jeffrey Tull and wife Pamela of Bridgeville, DE; brother, Richard Tull and wife Janice of Dover, DE; and the apple of his eye, granddaughter, Katherine Jane Parker, of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held in celebration of Ron's life on Wednesday, December 4th, 4:30 PM, Colonial Baptist Church, 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, NC 27518. A second service will be held Sunday, December 8th, 2:00 PM, Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
Mary Lou, Wendy, Emily, and Matt would like to thank their extended family, friends, neighbors, the Duke Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, and Hospice of Wake County, for their outstanding love and support during Ron’s illness, and particularly in the last few weeks of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Colonial Baptist Church, Benevolence Fund, in Honor of Ron Tull, at 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, NC 27518, or to Caring Bridge, www.caringbridge.org/visit/rontull.
