Ronald “Ronnie” Kenneth Scales, age 76, of Milton, DE, formerly of Rockville, MD, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 5, 1940 in Baltimore, MD son of the late J. Kenneth and Anna deMoss Scales.
Ron graduated from Towson High School in 1958. He then graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.S. in business, where he also played on the varsity golf team. He worked at the University of Maryland golf course where he was a PGA club professional from 1964 until his retirement in 1997. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1972. Ron and his wife Stephanie moved to Milton, DE in 2006 after Stephanie's retirement from Stone Ridge School in Bethesda, MD. Ron enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and was an avid fisherman who loved fishing the Chesapeake and Delaware bays.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Stephanie Cole Scales; his two sons: Kenneth Stephen Scales and his wife Melissa of Rockville, MD, and David Clark Scales and his wife Katherine of Louisville, KY; his four grandchildren: Cate, August, Brooke and Anna Jean; his sister Judith Mezzullo and her husband Louis of CA; and his favorite cousin Bootsie Fletcher of Berlin, MD.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1601 Taylor Avenue, Baltimore MD, 21234.
