Roland Clay Lemaire's Obituary
Roland Clay Lemaire, age 77, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He was born July 30, 1931 in Galveston, TX to the late Arny Clay and May (Pundt) Lemaire.
Mr. Lemaire was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a radar operator during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by A & P Food Stores for thirty-seven years, retiring as an Assistant Manager. He enjoyed working in his yard. He was a family man first and foremost, and a more loyal friend you could not find. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR Champion, Rusty Wallace. Mr. Lemaire was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mr. Lemaire is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Shirley (Wessells) Lemaire; a daughter, Theresa L. Fiorentino; a son, Martin C. Lemaire; two sisters, Geraldine Purdy and Dolores Donahue; two brothers, Albert "Reds" Lemaire and Kenneth Lemaire, all of Lewes, DE; two grandchildren, Danielle L. Hansen of Millsboro, DE and Melanie Payton of Lewes, DE; and two great-grandchildren, Maddison Long and Dylan Payton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2008, 11:00 AM at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:30 AM. The Rev. James E. Downs, MSA will be the celebrant. Friends may also call on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Beaver Dam Road near Angola, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901.
