Roger Simon Salvador's Obituary
Roger Simon Salvador, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, DE died suddenly at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE on Friday, May 25, 2007. He was born on December 7, 1938, in Havana, Cuba, son of Mariano Laurentino Salvador of Aventura, FL and the late Juana Maria (De La Cruz) Salvador.
He received his BS from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, PA and his Masters Degree from Temple University.
For 35 years Mr. Salvador taught at Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA where he had served as Chairman of the Language Department for 16 years, retiring in 2003.
He had been very active in the Logan Square Neighborhood Association in Philadelphia, and was currently the Treasurer of the Breakwater Estates Community Association in Rehoboth Beach. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Cathedral Parish of Sts. Peter & Paul, Philadelphia.
In addition to his father he is survived by his life partner Alan Hedlund, his sister Zoe Alonso and her husband Gus of Aventura, FL; four nephews, Gustavo Alonso IV, Alexander Alonso, Joel Alonso, and Thomas Alonso; three great-nephews, Justin Alonso, Alexander Alonso, and Gustavo Alonso V.
Funeral services will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE on Friday, June 1, 1:00 PM with Rev. Jack Abel and Rev. Jill Hedlund Kitskoe officiating. Friends may call at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, on Thursday, May 31, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and at the church on Friday June 1, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Epworth United Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Roger Salvador Memorial Fund, c/o Epworth U. M. Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
