Roger C. Ault, age 85, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He was born on May 7, 1929 in Accident, MD, son of the late Earle Harbaugh and Fannie Rachael (Broadwater) Ault.
Mr. Ault graduated from Western Maryland College and the Catholic University of America, where he received a Master of Arts degree in Drama. He served in the United States Army Counterintelligence Corps in Stuttgart, Germany from 1954 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge, he embarked on a lifelong career of 26 years teaching English in Maryland.
After retirement from teaching, Mr. Ault was employed by Miller Recording Company in Washington, D.C. and later as a proofreader at the law firm of Hogan and Hartson in Washington, D.C. Following his retirement, Mr. Ault moved to the Rehoboth Beach resort area.
Mr. Ault's real love was theater. In a career that spanned for more than five decades, he was firstly a member of the National Players where he participated in a national tour and later in USO tours of Army bases in Germany. While living in Washington, D.C, he performed at Ford's Theatre and Folger Theatre, among others. After moving to Rehoboth Beach, he enjoyed performing with the Ad Hoc Touring Company, an affiliate of Possum Point Players in Georgetown, DE.
He also enjoyed traveling and visited almost all of the United States, in addition to the Bahamas, China, Egypt and Western Europe.
Mr. Ault was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Mr. Ault is survived by his brother, Allen of Bel Air, MD, a niece, Rebecca Magnani of Stewartstown, PA and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Ault's memory to SPCA, 22918 DuPont Boulevard, Georgetown, DE 19947.
