Robert S. Walls' Obituary
Robert S. Walls, Jr., 39, of Lewes, DE passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at home of heart failure attributed to acute diabetes. Born in Lewes, DE on December 27, 1968, Bob was the son of Robert S. Walls, Sr. and Ann Lodge Walls.
Bob was a 1987 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School where he excelled in the Cape Marching Band and Jazz Band and performed many solo performances on his trumpet for various audiences around the country. He attended Salisbury State University after High School and was a life-long member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. Bob was an Eagle Scout at BSA Troop 1 in Lewes and traveled to Philmont Scout Reservation in the Rocky Mountains and to the Scout High Adventure Base in the Florida Keys. He taught Junior Achievement classes in the local elementary schools for several years. Bob was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and most of all a trusted friend.
Bob worked many years at Dolle's Candyland on the Rehoboth Boardwalk as a valued employee and manager. He was recently employed as the Assistant Manager at the Rent-A-Center in Georgetown. Bob enjoyed music, writing, skiing, NASCAR and the Eagles and Flyers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edson, Jr. and Thelma Chambers Lodge and by William S. Walls, Jr. His fiancee, Sherry L. Humphrey, 37, also preceded him in death 3 months ago due to multiple health complications. Bob is survived by his mother Ann L. Walls of Lewes, his father Bob, Sr. and his wife Jeannie of Magnolia, and his brother and best friend Mark of Lewes. He is also survived by his grandmother Helen M. Walls of Melbourne, FL; great grandmother Ann Walls McCool of Rehoboth; uncle Michael Walls of Seaford; aunt Judi Hammond and her husband John of Lewes; aunt Cyndi Martin and husband Paul of Marietta, GA; and a host of cousins. His and Sherry's four-legged canine companion, Bojangles, already misses him.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008, 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Music Fund, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes, DE 19958.
