Robert Edward Slowey "Bob"'s Obituary
Robert Edward “Bob” Slowey of Bethany Beach, Delaware, age 80, passed away peacefully Friday, February 5, 2010.
Bob was born on February 21, 1929 in Scranton, PA, son of the late Edward J. and Frances (Cosgriff) Slowey.
He actively served two tours as a military policeman during WWII and the Korean conflict. He moved with his family to Rockville, Maryland in 1965 where he spent 31 years at AT&T Communications in Washington, DC. He retired with his wife to Bethany Beach, Delaware in 2000.
He enjoyed woodworking, boating, golfing and time with his family. Bob was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach and a long time volunteer at the Center for Creative Nonviolence in Washington.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Kane) Slowey; two daughters: Mary Joan Slowey and Patricia Slowey Lynch; two sons : Robert Slowey and Christopher Slowey; six grandchildren: Sullivan and Gillian Lynch, Liam and Aidan Slowey, and Grayson and Carter Slowey and many relatives and friends.
Bob’s life will be celebrated by family and friends at a Memorial Service and lunch at Magnolia’s Restaurant, 1 Cedar Neck Road, Ocean View, DE,19970 on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:30 AM.
