Robert Cannon Short's Obituary
Robert Cannon Short “Bob”, age 84 of Laurel, Delaware, passed away on January 4, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Lewes, Delaware, son of the late Herman C. and Elizabeth L Short.
Bob spent his long career in service to others, first as a Methodist minister, and then in various capacities in the field of addiction recovery and substance abuse treatment. His spirituality and faith in the Lord sustained him throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert S. Short; his brother, James L. Short; and his sister, Ann S. Short. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol J. Short of Laurel, DE; his sons: Michael C. Short and his wife Deborah and Mark H. Short all of Newark, DE; his daughter, Laurie S. Smith and her husband Kenneth Smith of Newark, DE; and his four beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 West 4th Street, Lewes, DE. Interment will follow the service at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery.
