Robert E. Shomo's Obituary
Robert "Bob" E. Shomo, age 83, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Lancaster County, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born Monday, November 20, 1933 in Lancaster, PA, son of the late Howard and Dorothy (Fawber) Shomo.
Mr. Shomo graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster in 1953. For a few years after high school, Mr. Shomo played professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He then enrolled in the Pennsylvania State Police Academy where he served his community as a Lancaster city Police Officer for many years. After retiring from the police department he worked as a book keeper with Goodhart Sons steel Fabrication Company.
Mr. Shomo was a member of the Masons and Elks Lodges in Millsboro. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, boating and playing cards with friends. He also loved dancing and will always be remembered as a great dancer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shomo was preceded in death his grandson, Travis Shomo. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Molly (Wood) Shomo; his daughter, Vickie Bowman (Steve) of Ephrata, PA; his son, R. Duke Shomo (Cindy) of Litiz, PA; his grandchildren: Tana Flores (Ron) of Akron, PA and Paige Brkopac of Ephrata, PA; and six great-great grandchildren.
