Robert E. Neininger's Obituary
Robert E. Neininger, age 94, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Fairfax, VA, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born Thursday, October 21, 1920 in Saginaw, MI, youngest son of the late Adolph and Ethel (Nielson) Neininger.
Mr. Neininger proudly served his country in Europe during World War II with the Army Air Corps, earning the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross after successfully completing 29 missions. Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Neininger embarked on a career as a Dairy Deliveryman with Wanzer Dairy in Chicago, IL. He retired from Wanzer Dairy in 1968.
After retirement, Mr. Neininger relocated to FL where he embarked on a second career as a cabinet maker for Schult Mobile Homes in Bradenton. He loved the arts, especially painting, and he enjoyed writing fiction. Mr. Neininger penned and illustrated an e-book at the age of 92 in 2012 titled The Meteor and Myopia. He was a Lifetime Member of the 390th Bomb Group, a membership he was very proud of. Mr. Neininger's favorite pastime of all was spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Neininger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, MaryAnn in 1992 and his 5 siblings. He is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Yablonski of Lewes, DE and Nancy Blain and her husband Jim of Lake Charles, LA; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Yablonski of Arlington, VA and Tom Yablonski and his wife Lisa of Valley Forge, PA and 7 great-grandchildren: Alex; Adam; Jessica; Eric; Sarah; Gabrielle and John.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958. Interment will be private, in Bradenton, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
