John Norvig
Bob and I became friends while attending Penn State in the fall of 1961. We were business majors and took some classes together. After two years at the Ogontz Campus, we were roommates at the Main Campus at University Park. During those 2 1/2 years, we spent a lot of time together.
We played intramural football and softball, drove TR-3's, attended countless parties and created lots of mischief. I remember Bob for his athleticism, his sense of humor, his musical talents and his loyalty as my friend. He was pretty smart too.
Unfortunately, we'd lost track of one another over the years. I was shocked and saddened when I read the obituary and learned that my friend had passed away nearly 15 years ago.
I hope that Mary Ellen or one of their children will read this post and know that I share their grief for our shared loss. I once read, "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." I treasure the memories I have of Bob Humes.
